Kane and (The) Big Show was a tag team that performed in World Wrestling Entertainment on the RAW and Smackdown brands.

History[edit]

Although they have teamed up before in previous occasions (one notable time was their short lived quest for the WWF Tag Team Championship at Vengeance 2001) it wasn't until 2005 when they made a functional team. At Taboo Tuesday 2005, the fans had a choice of who would be the third man to join John Cena and Kurt Angle in the Triple Threat main event for the WWE Championship. The two were choices along with Shawn Michaels. Michaels won the vote which meant that Kane and Big Show had to face Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch for the World Tag Team Championship. Kane and Big Show won the match and became champions. The two dominated RAW's tag team division, this dominance even prompted Jonathan Coachman to say it is unfair such a tag team can be formed.

In the latter half of 2005, an interbrand feud between the RAW and SmackDown! brands included Kane and Big Show. During the feud, Kane and Big Show played the role of monster tweeners. This meant they were cheered on RAW, but booed on Smackdown! The two invaded SmackDown! twice, the first resulted in them double chokeslamming the World Heavyweight Champion Batista while the second involved them chokeslamming Batista through an announcers table. When SmackDown! superstars returned the offer by invading RAW, Kane and Big Show chokeslammed Batista through a car windshield but were later in the night met by Batista who beat the two down with a pipe.

The feud ended at Armageddon 2005, when the Kane and Big Show took on SmackDown's WWE Tag Team Champions Batista and Rey Mysterio. RAW's Tag Team Champions won that match after Kane pinned Mysterio.

The pair would go on to feud with Carlito and Chris Masters. Show and Kane would go on to defeat the opposing pair in a World Tag Title match at WrestleMania 22.

The next day, on the April 3rd edition of RAW, Spirit Squad members Kenny and Mikey defeated The Big Show and Kane to win their World Tag Team Championships with help from the other members of the Spirit Squad (Nicky, Mitch, and Johnny), ending The Big Show and Kane's 154 day reign as the World Tag Team Champions.

The next week, Kane snapped and got them DQ'd in a rematch for the Tag Titles; He Chokeslammed the entire Spirit Squad, the referee and eventually Big Show himself, dissolving the once-successful tag team.

On April 17 edition of RAW The Big Show came to stop Kane from chokeslamming Lilian Garcia. They met up in the ring but this time The Big Show got the better of Kane delivering a chokeslam of his own to his former partner. Afterwards Kane sat up and had a sadistic smile on his face and was laughing. On April 25 on RAW The Big Show once again provoked Kane and was then attacked.

At Backlash on April 30, 2006, the match between Big Show and Kane went to a no-contest after Big Show hit Kane with a chair.

Reunion (2011)[edit]

Following a disqualification loss to Big Show by using a steel chair in early 2011, Kane began an apparent alliance with The Corre (a group consisting of Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel) when they offered to assist Kane in another match against Big Show on March 4. However, after Gabriel stumbled into him during the assault, Kane attacked him with a steel chair, and The Corre retaliated against him in defense of their teammate. This turned Kane face once again. As a result, Kane faced off against Barrett the following week. The match ended with interference from the other members of The Corre, who in turn were chased away when Big Show came to the ring and threatened the group with a steel chair. After the group left, he hit Kane with the chair for payback from the week before.

After several weeks and mutual turmoil with The Corre, Kane and Big Show reunited on the March 18 edition of SmackDown to challenge Slater and Gabriel for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Kane memorably told Show "You complete me." in a backstage segment. Although The Corre would lose the match via disqualification after Gabriel pulled the referee from the ring, Kane and Big Show did not win the championships, as titles cannot change hands as result of a disqualification. On the following edition of Raw, Kane and Big Show solidified their reunion when they came to the aid of Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov, who were being attacked following a loss in a non-title match over Slater and Gabriel. It was later announced that the four would face The Corre at Wrestlemania. At WrestleMania XXVII, Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella and Kofi Kingston (who replaced Kozlov due to being attacked by The Corre and injuring his arm prior to WrestleMania) defeated The Corre. The following week, a WrestleMania rematch took place with Kane and Big Show's team victorious over the Corre once again in a two out of three falls match. Ultimately, the duo defeated Slater and Gabriel for the WWE Tag Team Championship, their second championship win as a team, on the April 22nd edition of SmackDown.[1] The following week a rematch took place for the WWE Tag Team Championship's which resulted in Kane and Big Show retaining the belts. At Extreme Rules Kane and Big Show successfully defended their titles by defeating Wade Barrett and Ezekiel Jackson in a tag-team Lumberjack Match. On the May 2nd edition of Raw, Kane faced Mason Ryan in a match. Ryan was disquailified when CM Punk and other New Nexus members attacked him. On the May 9th edition of Raw, Kane fought Mason Ryan which ended in a no contest. On the following Smackdown, Kane faced Wade Barrett in a non-title match. The Corre interfered and as a result, the match ending in a disqualification. Ezekiel Jackson came down to fight The Corre but was beat down as well. On the 20th May 2011 edition of Smackdown Ezekiel Jackson, Big Show and Kane defeated the Corre in a 6-man tag team match. At Over the Limit (2011), Kane and Big Show successfully defended the Tag Team Championships against CM Punk and Mason Ryan. On the May 23 edition of Raw, David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty defeated Kane and Big Show to win the Tag Team Championships with help from CM Punk and Mason Ryan. After the match Big Show was run over by Alberto Del Rio's car and causing him to have a torn ACL. When Big Show returned to Raw after recovering from his injuries, Kane and Big Show went their separate ways.
